PokeWalker and PokeAthlon

I've noticed a theme of athletics through HeartGold. Your lead Pokemon follows you; who knows if a Pokemon gets more exercise outside a ball or inside a ball? But, of course, the PokeWalker reinforces the theme of walking Pokemon while encouraging trainers to go "take a stroll." (Or find the nearest hyperactive little sibling. )
The PokeAthlon, though, is another neat addition to the Pokemon genre that most directly reinforces the theme. I played a few PokeAthlon games for the first time today with an uneffort-earning team of Lugia, Ho-oh, and Zapdos. Regardless, the jumping of hurdles and capturing of pennants were engaging activities. Kudos to the makers of Pokemon for PokeAthlon!
In celebration of the open-air athletic spirit of the HeartGold and SoulSilver, I would like to write another poem:
Leaning over a back-lit DS screen,
Pushing buttons, blinking a bit.
Cramped in a Pokeball, a world unseen,
Til battle, this Pokemon will sit.
This trainer and Pokemon alike
Could benefit from riding a bike.
So the trainer lets his partner
Run free and breath a little more.
But come before the battle of greatest
Is the glorious dome built latest.
Dashing, jumping, breaking blocks,
Pokemon come running in flocks
To battle their power and speed
For a true competition indeed.

Fickle
Until then, Lullabye is a Meganium. I will maybe explore a few places around Johto to figure my team for the next playthrough. Or not. Whatever works!

Goodbye, Lullabye, my grassy friend.
Our journey together is ready to end.
But through Johto you'll travel,
As future days unravel.
You're no Chikorita no more,
But in these journeys of mine,
You're a life-living lore
Whose battles old continue to shine.
Make it to Kanto; you'll travel far,
Like any rising Meganium star.
Your story everlasts here
Cause that Elite Four
Has Lullabye to fear.
But for now there is no more;
This seldom time has come at last
To say that Lullabye has grown up fast.

My dad had gone all the way up to Goldenrod City, so I decided to take a cruise down back to Cherrygrove and explore the lovely world of Johto.
My dad had decided to make the in-game trade Onix, Rocky, a part of the team, and I found this a fine decision.
I journeyed back through Ilex Forest with Rocky the Onix beside me. Through the woods, I was quickly lost, and I realized eventually that I needed a Pokemon with the HM Cut to get back. I caught myself a Zubat, but he couldn't learn Cut like I expected.
I caught a Paras the next time, and this Pokemon could learn Cut. But the one that stayed with me longest was the Zubat. Adamant in nature, this poison flying creature became the forefront of my training campaigns as I journeyed to Slowpoke Well.
I taught the Zubat U-Turn, the most precious TM I had, and I fainted many other Zubats in Slowpoke Well while searching for a Slowpoke. I could have sworn I fainted at least a hundred Zubats before ever finding my Slowpoke named Soloman, but in truth, I probably only fainted about 50.
I talked to all the NPCs I could find and hung around random patches of grass where fainting wild Mareep with the Static ability paralyzed my whole team. I explored Sprout Tower and collected apricorns across then traveled back to Goldenrod.
My Pokemon team is mostly complete with Lullabye the Chikorita, Rocky the Onix, Zubat, and Solomon the Slowpoke. I am now attempting to win some coins in the revamped Gamer Corner. For what I am saving, I do not know, but I do know that I do enjoy this shocking Voltorb game! (Excuse the pun)
I'll call it a night for HeartGold and my Pokemon when I win some coins. But until next time, this is for my team:

Abduction
I know not now what journeys Lullabye the Chikorita(if he's not already a Bayleef) may be experiencing at this moment, so I can only hope he doesn't go too far without me! Tomorrow I'll see!

Lullabye the Chikorita

As soon as I got access to pokeballs, I tried to catch every wild Pokemon I could. However, none have yet to appeal to me as permanent partners.
I look at little things throughout the game. Though I've only barely left Cherrygrove, my playtime is already over an hour. Lullabye is level 12, not yet a Bayleef, so I cherish the last moments of his Chikorita-hood with a poem.
A Chikorita whose name is Lullabye
Follows me loyally through sea and sky.
With Tackle and Razor Leaf
He'll put Caterpies to grief.
And those untended youngsters there
Will know the moment Lullabye's here.
But with a grassy young smile,
This Chikorita can sail the mile
With all the happiness and joy
Of a fresh-sprung Chikorita boy.
Oh, Lullabye, our journey will be long,
I can feel it from this song

First Impressions

I remember my first Pokemon game: Crystal version. I remember my favorite Pokemon: Ho-oh. I remember my first starter: Chikorita.
After leaving Game Stop with two new games, I examined the box art of both boxes and looked at the two figurines, one of Ho-oh and one of Lugia, that I had gotten as reservation bonuses. I took the first game, HeartGold, and opened the box.
For once I watched the whole introduction to the game as soon as I turned it on instead of rushing to start a new game. I noticed the new music and graphics. These were well-made remakes, I thought.
I start the game and creatively make my character a girl named "TIFF," and the journey begins.
